LAW OF ATTRACTION - 4 DIMENSIONS OF MIND EXPLANATION WITH PRACTICAL EXAMPLE PART II

 In this Blog, I am explaining about How the 4 Dimensions / Parts of the Mind Functioning with respect to Forming of PERCEPTION through Sensory Input.  Please note that MIND is a Meta Physics Subject and even Psychologist & Medical Practitioners making sincere attempt to know more about Mind.  Hence whatever I have learned and understood about Mind through my limited Knowledge and experiences I am sharing my views about Mind and its Functionality.  I give below the diagrams which represents the rough sketch of Mind Parts and its functionalities.

 


 


 Let us understand the Mind functions step by step,

 Before that we understand the Perception and its 4 stages. 

1)   Perception allows people to Notice & then Select the sensory information and stimuli that are intense / Strong often to attract our attention

2)   Make the information into something meaningful through Organization (comparing existing knowledge with the stimuli)  

3)   Interpretation (making meaning of the stimuli) . It is also necessary for people to identify potential dangers (Negative emotions) and stay safe.

4)   Memory (Storage of one's experience about the stimuli)


Let us get into the subject in depth.  Through Sensory Organs (Eyes, Ears, Nose, Tongue & Touch) Stimuli are sent to the Brain through Spinal Cord.  Brain sends the Input to the Mind.  If the Mind gets attached to that Data further it will process, otherwise it will discard the data.  This process is called SELECTION.  For example you are walking in a crowded place and seeing lot of people and none of them draws your attention, but if you NOTICE your friend at distance in the crowd then your mind start immediately Focusing (SELECT) on him.  In this way your Mind eliminate most of the trivial things.

Now the Mind has got a Sensory Input Data and it wanted more related data for that Sensory Input.  Hence it will advise Memory (MANAS) to furnish more related information about the Sensory Input and ORGANIZE them to be acted upon by Intellect (BUDDHI)

Ø If Memory found no related information in the storage Media (Brain or Sub Conscious) it will inform the Mind.  Then the Mind try to ASSOCIATE the Input with Familiar Known Object and store the Input with Associated Data in the storage Media.  For example If a person who lived in an Isolated Jungle not seen and having no idea about an Airplane till date.  Suddenly he saw a flying airplane.  In order to understand Airplane, he will ASSOCIATE Airplane to a Flying Bird known to him and store the data in the Memory with association.  Whenever he see a flying airplane again, he recognize the object through Association.

Ø If Memory found any information related to the sensory input in Brain or CHITTH (Sub Conscious) it will pass on the data to the Mind

The Mind has got a) brain forwarded Sensory Input data (STIMULI)  and b) Memory (MANAS) supplied data related to the Sensory Input.  Mind send these data to Intellect (BUDDHI) for INTERPRETATION.  Intellect will apply Reasoning, Logic, Environment Condition and Belief System etc as filtering mode to pass through. Please note that Intellect differ to each person because of their belief system, Environment and other factors.  For example a person born in Southern Part of India – Chennai belief system differs compared to a Person born in Western Part of India - Gujarat.  South Indians strongly believe that through proper education only, one can survive and thrive in any part of the world.  Whereas Gujarati people strongly believe that through proper understanding and practice of Business Practices and techniques only, one can lead a prosperous life.   This is the reason why EDTECH company like Byjus strategies their Business Operation more around Southern Part.

For easy understanding we can assume

MEMORY (MANAS) + INTELLECT (BUDDHI) = CONSCIOUS MIND

CHITTH = SUB CONSCIOUS MIND

AHANKAR = EGO / SELF / IDENTITY

 


Another Part or Dimension of Mind (AHANKAR) / IDENTITY or EGO is the portion of your personality (IDENTITY / MASK ) that is in contact with the external world.  EGO also review the Sensory Input data.  The Sensory Input Data should be Attractive Enough to Catch the attention of the Ego.  For example you might have seen lot of cars passing through you while walking on a road. You LIKE few cars and note that these LIKEs have a LOW EMOTION attached to that.  Hence these model cars might have got stored in your CONSCIOUS MEMORY for a temporary period and it will be fade away in due course of time.  But suddenly one BMW car in Black color is zipping through you and you watched the BMW car with amazement and you feel WOW about the car in that moment.  This time your EGO / AHANKAR ATTACHED ITS STRONG EMOTION to the SENSORY INPUT. When the Emotion is Strong Enough then it will fall from MEMORY  into Sub Conscious as IMPRINT.  

Please note that your WISH OR DESIRE AT CONSCIOUS MIND WILL REACH AT SUB CONSCIOUS  ONLY IF YOUR EGO / IDENTITY ENDORSED IT.  SO YOUR EGO IS LIKE AN "EMMIGRATION OFFICER" AT AIRPORT WHO CHECKS YOUR PASSPORT (DESIRES) AND STAMP / ENDORSED IT, AFTER THAT ONLY YOU (DESIRE) CAN LEAVE THE IMMIGRATION COUNTER (REACH SUB CONSCIOUS MIND).  So if you want Law of Attraction to work on your Desire, your EGO has to endorse it otherwise it will remain as mere wish at Conscious level and it will never acted upon.


MIND has got 1) INTELLECT / BUDDHI suggested Sensory Input data and 2) AHANKAR/EGO approved Emotion attached Sensory Input.  Out of these 2 Sensory Input data one has to be finalized and acted upon. The Mind always look for Emotions of Pleasure or Pain.  Mind Nature is to avoid PAIN (PHYSICAL & MENTAL) at any cost to put you in COMFORT ZONE or SURVIVAL MODE.   Those Input / Data which has PAIN EMOTION attached to that, will emerge as Winner in General.  Winner Sensory data get stored in Brain initially and then after some time through repetition of  the same Thought with Strong Emotion will create IMPRINT  in CHITTH (Sub Conscious).   This is a Simple and general way of explaining HOW THE MIND FUNCTIONS.  

Let us discuss few LAW OF ATTRACTION Facts Here.

Q1.  I have used the word “Winner data get stored in Brain initially and then after some time in CHITTH (Sub Conscious) ”.  Now you may ask question Why Data Is Getting Stored In Brain first and then in CHITTH (Sub Conscious) After Some Time ?.  If you observe we always use the term “CONSCIOUS MEMORY” & “SUB CONSCIOUS IMPRINT”.  Memory can be WEAK and it can be faded away in short period.  It is like, You are writing your name on beach sand and continuous wind will erase the name after some time.  Whereas the Sub Conscious Imprints are STRONG and it will last long.  It is like CARVING your name on boulder and it will take longer period to get eroded. Writing on sand is easy and take less effort whereas carving on boulder is tough job and it takes more dedicated and long period effort.  That is the reason initially the mind stores the finalized sensory input data (our example Black BMW Car) in the Brain as CONSCIOUS MEMORY which is WEAK.  As long as your thought on Black BMW car stays only in the Brain without strong associated emotion it will remain as your wish or dream (BUDDING STAGE) only for some time and then FADE away.

Q2. HOW TO MAKE WEAK CONSCIOUS MEMORY TO STRONG SUB CONSCIOUS IMPRINT SO AS TO REACH CHITTH / SUB CONSCIOUS.  In order to reach SUB CONSCIOUS IMPRINT (FLOWERING) you have to make the simple Conscious thought more vibrant (STRONG) with Emotion through your dedicated effort and this process will take some time. It is like how BUD take time to become FLOWER.  To make simple, Conscious thought can be made more vibrant or energized through AFFIRMATION (Words and Emotion) & VISUALIZATION (Mental Picture and Emotion).  This means that you are repeatedly bringing your desire (CONSCIOUS MEMORY) as thought or mental picture, stay focused on that without any impediment thoughts and also adding Strong Emotion to that for FEW DAYS (LOOP) CONSISTENTLY so that CONSCIOUS MEMORY become more vibrant due to Emotional Charges and one day it become fully energized and then fall into the Sub Conscious as IMPRINT.  When the Sub Conscious Imprint further gets more energized then it will become UNCONSCIOUS means every cell of your body carry this information.  Through your efforts you are making it happening. We will explore more about this point in our next blog content.  The SECRET book says in philosophical way, once your desire reaches Sub Conscious, the universe will find its own way to fulfill your dream. In Psychological terms it refers that “YOU ARE BECOMING THE PERSON YOU WANT TO BE”. This is what we refer as “TRANSFORMATION” in the last blog posting. In this state whatever action you perform, you are taking one step towards your goal.

Q3. HOW MANY DAYS (The Time Duration) IT TAKES TO MAKE WEAK MEMORY TO STRONG SUBCONSCIOUS IMPRINTS ?.  It depends on the person.  If he does it with Consistent, Dedicate and truly bring Strong Emotion to the Desire and live with it, you can make it happen at an early date

Q4. WHY FEELING / EMOTION IS SO IMPORTANT ?  In the SECRET Book it says “WHATEVER YOU THINK / DESIRE, IT WILL COME TRUE IN LIFE”.  But it is partially correct.  Thinking & Feeling is complimentary to each other.  But Thinking is the Prerequisite and Feeling is the Dominating Factor.   In simple word Thinking is like a balloon and Feeling is like the Gas.  Only Gas inside the balloon can take the balloon to height.  Similarly Feeling / Emotion is the Spirit which make you to act upon on your Desire to reach the Goal.

LAW OF ATTRACTION - 4 DIMENSIONS OF MIND EXPLANATION WITH PRACTICAL EXAMPLE

It is imperative to understand more about MIND and its functionality.  According to ANCIENT INDIAN YOGIC CULTURE MIND consists of 4 Main DIMENSIONS and they are 

Ø MANAS refers to MEMORY Not only memory stored in BRAIN but also entire BODY CELLS which carry memory. In the Human Body from Head to Toe, there is Memory (manas) – this is called MANOMAYA KOSHA. In every cell in the body, there is memory and intelligence, but no intellect. INTELLECT IS ONLY IN THE BRAIN

Ø BUDDHI refers to INTELLECT (AND NOT INTELLIGENT) IS A DISCRIMINATORY PROCESS WHICH USES REASONING,LOGIC,  COMPARISON.  Buddhi is the intellect – the Logical Dimension of the thought & it cannot function without a certain bank of memory or data.  If you can make more things out of INTELLECT, you are considered intelligent, which is not true but you are a sharper intellect. The Intellect will not take you beyond limits in any way, because it can only function based on the data that is already there. It is not capable of accessing anything beyond that.  Also Intellect will work around your AHANKAR / Identity.  For example If you Identify (Ego) yourself as more knowledgeable person then your intellect will work around the idea as if you know every thing and nothing new to learn which makes you arrogant. 

Ø CHITTH refers to SUB CONSCIOUS / UNCONSCIOUS which is ENERGY SOURCE & STORAGE MEDIA OF HABITS, BELIEFS, SKILL, SELF ESTEEM etc. Any Idea or Desire from the Conscious Mind once reaches CHITTH, it will come true in life. CHITTH  is mind without memory – pure intelligence / Energy. This intelligence is like the cosmic intelligence – simply there. Everything happens because of that. It does not function out of memory – it simply functions. In a way, what you call UNIVERSE is a living mind, not in the sense of intellect but in the sense of CHITTH. It connects to the basis of creation within you. It connects you with your consciousness. CHITTH is always on – whether you are awake or asleep. Your intellect comes on and goes off. Many times it fails, even when you are awake. CHITTH is the Intelligence or energy which making life happen. 

Ø AHANKAR refers to IDENTITY / EGO.  Ahankar gives you a sense of identity. Once your Ahankar takes on an identity, your intellect functions only in that context. It is important to function beyond the intellect, because the intellect is seriously enslaved to your identity.

    WHY LACK OF IDENTITY IS BAD ?  Lack of self-identity can have detrimental effects on mental health and overall well-being, leading to increased levels of anxiety, low self-esteem, social isolation, and feelings of being lost or aimless

      Let us take the case of Lord Hanuman character from Great Epic Ramayana. During his childhood days Lord Hanuman troubled a Saint with funny Pranks when the saint was in deep meditation. The saint cursed Lord Hanuman to make him to forget his power, so he lost all the abilities given to him by the gods. Lord Hanuman asks the saint for forgiveness, the saint informed Lord Hanuman that "When someone reminds You of yours powers, you will remember your strength and thus your power will be restored" This is the classic case of IDENTITY CRISIS.  Despite having so much power, Lord Hanuman reminded of his power by Jambavan the king of bears, to enable him to cross the strait between India and Sri Lanka in one leap.  

Let us to take one simple thought process and understand how the 4 DIMENSION OF MIND works and how it impact us psychologically.  Let us take an Live example. Mr. X wants to buy T-Shirt and went to a cloth shop.

Step 1 - In the shop a dark pink color T-Shirt was displayed along with other T-Shirts and at first sight Mr. X took the Pink T-shirt.  The question is why Mr. X has chosen the Dark Pink Color T-Shirt First ?.  He saw the T-Shirt as Input through his sensory organ Eye and MIND has chosen the Dark Pink color T-Shirt. 

a) Somewhere in the past Mr. X STRONGLY LIKED (Positive Emotion) the Dark Pink color and chooses this color as his Personal Preference and this information has got IMPRINTED as MEMORY (MANAS) in the SUB CONSCIOUS. For easy understanding we can Label this MEMORY IMPRINT as “PREFERENCE”.  

b) At a Later stage of Mr. X  life his college friends made comment that Dark Pink color is meant for Ladies and not for Gents and if Gents wear this color they will become laughing stock (Insult) among the group members. Hence he formed second opinion about DARK PINK COLOR stating that Dark Pink color is meant for Ladies and and if Gents wear Dark Pink Color Dress will draw INSULT (Negative Emotion) from Peer group and this information is also IMPRINTED as MEMORY (MANAS) in the Sub Conscious. We can Label this Memory as “OPINION”. 

Initially Mr. X Picked up Dark Pink Color at first sight without giving a thought , as this color was liked by him strongly and also his Personal Preference. 

Step 2 – After choosing Dark Pink T-Shirt without awareness, the MIND check the BRAIN (MANAS / MEMORY) for availability of any other data related to Dark Pink Color.  The BRAIN (MANAS) supply the second Memory data labelled as “OPINION” about Dark Pink color meant for Ladies and not for Gents, to the MIND.  Since more than one data is available in the Mind about Dark Pink Color then the BUDDHI / INTELLECT start process these two information using Logic, Reasoning and convey its FINAL DECISION to the MIND.  BUDDHI (Intellect) observe  both Memory contents.  Memory Labelled as "PREFERENCE" says Mr. X strongly likes Dark Pink Color and hence to go for Dark Pink Color T-Shirt.  But Buddhi also read another Memory Labelled as "OPINION" and state that Dark Pink color is meant for Ladies and not for Gents and those gents who wear Dark Pink Color dress might get insulted from his peer group.  Now Buddhi analyze the two situation takes a decision.  The “Preference” Labelled memory has his LIKE which is PLEASURE EMOTION but “Opinion” labelled memory has INSULT which has PAIN EMOTION.  In order to avoid Pain (Insult) from Peer Group Buddhi advises Mr. X to forgo his own liking and suggest not to choose Dark Pink Color T-Shirt. BUDDHI Decides to go for the Memory Labelled as “OPINION”.

Step 3 - AHANKAR (IDENTITY/ EGO) of Mr. X also try to evaluate these situations. Since Memory labelled as “PREFERENCE” is already endorsed / Identified by  AHANKAR / Ego. Dark Pink Color has already become his Personal Liking (PLEASURE EMOTION FROM INSIDE).  Hence AHANKAR Pitches to go for “PREFERENCE”.  Even AHANKAR will argue to the extent that one should go for their Personal LIKE / PREFERENCES and accept others criticism or Insult boldly, rather than burying their Preferences to please other Whims.  By nature, If Mr. X has STRONG CHARACTER ETHICS then his MIND will opt for Memory labelled as  “PREPRENCE” and choose Dark Pink Color T-Shirt without bothering about INSULT (PAIN EMOTION FROM OUTSIDE) from Peer Group.

Step 4 – There is an internal conflict between BUDDHI & AHANKAR now in selecting Dark Pink Color dress and it become TUG OF WAR Match . PHYSICAL STRENGTH DOES MATTER IN TUG OF WAR.  In this internal conflict MENTAL STRENGTH decide the WINNER between Buddhi & AHANKAR.  If Buddhi is more powerful than AHANKAR, it will overcome AHANKAR and vice versa.  In this case, Mr. X is having stronger BUDDHI compared to AHANKAR for the simple reason to avoid Insult (PAIN EMOTION), he will not choose Pink Color T-Shirt.  Mr. X choose Blue or some other color T-Shirt and complete the purchasing process. 

Step 5 - Through this purchase process / action, without his awareness, once again Mr. X reiterate to CHITTH (Sub Conscious) that “Avoided Insult (Pain) by not choosing the Pink Color Dress”

Now you may ask “So What ? It is so natural to choose between opinions.  In what way am I going to get affected ?”  At the outset it may look so simple process, but at psychology level it has its own impact.  Earlier Mr. X has 2 information labelled as PREFERENCE & OPINION about Dark Pink color stored as Memory (MANAS) in the Brain.  Since his friends made fun about Pink color as Ladies choice, he formed an opinion that by wearing Pink Color dress will invite sarcasm from his friend circle.  Hence he decided not to choose or wears pink color dress to avoid PAIN EMOTION, despite having his own personal like towards Pink Color.  Due to his recent purchase activity he once again confirmed to his CHITTH (sub conscious) WITHOUT HIS KNOWLEDGE about his dislike towards Pink Color.  Memory labelled as “OPINION”  in CHITTH is getting more strength by this act and “PREFRENCE” labelled Memory in CHITTH is getting weaker.  In the forthcoming cloth purchase activities, Mr. X will CONSCIOUSLY avoid in choosing Dark Pink Color cloth due to ladies choice.  This repetitive purchase process cycle create strong imprint about Dark Pink Color in the Sub Conscious Mind of Mr. X to believe strongly that Pink Color is meant for Ladies and not for Gents.  Mr. X STARTED NOT LIKING Dark Pink Color without his Awareness and it will become his SUB CONSCIOUS BELIEF.  

So far it look so innocuous to us but the hidden negative aspect is that when this  Sub Conscious Strong belief of Not liking Pink Color will become as HATE without Mr. X awareness. Mr. X may simply think that he is not liking the Dark Pink Color at Conscious level, but he is not aware that Not Liking has become so deep rooted and it become as Hate at Sub Conscious level.   Let us assume Mr. X happen to attend a prosperous sales call at client place and the client is wearing Dark Pink Color shirt.  Even though Mr. X prepared well for client meeting but may feel he is not in his full flow and the meeting has not happened the way he wanted.  He was wondering why the client meeting has not gone well  and  try to figure out the reason by looking at other external factors like presentation, client attitude etc.  But Mr. X is not even aware of the fact that his Hatred toward Dark Pink Color cloth at Sub Conscious level created negative feeling  without his awareness towards his client who was wearing the Dark Pink Color shirt on that occasion and jeopardized his business opportunity.

THIS IS HOW MOST OF OUR SUB CONSCIOUS BELIEF ARE FORMED THROUGHOUT OUR LIFE, BY OUR SIMPLE ACTION WITHOUT OUR KNOWLEDGE.  

 If our Sub Conscious Beliefs formed without our Awareness are negative then it will become impediment to our Growth. 

Then How to overcome this issue against the above case study.  While your MIND rejecting Dark Pink Color dress EVERY TIME, instead of using the negative term “ Dark Pink color is meant for Ladies and not for Gents and if Gents wear this color Dress they will become laughing stock among the group member”,  CONSCIOUSLY replace with the Positive Term like “I will be looking smart in Blue color Dress (the color which you choosing)”.  In this way you are conveying positive message to your CHITTH (Sub Conscious).  This is POSITIVE PSYCHOLOGY concept.  While talking to team members it is recommended to use the term “Challenge” instead of “Problem”. We are Facing a Challenge instead of We are Facing the Problem. The reason is the word “Problem” has the psychological connotation - Adversity to avoid or escape from the situation.  The Word “Challenge” has the Psychological connotation - Tough but not Adversity to face or overcome the situation.

Now let us understand how LAW OF ATTRACTION (LOA) work.  There are two person say X & Y who wants to buy MARUTI SWIFT car which cost 6.5 Lacs.  Mr. X is rich person and Mr. Y is Lower Middle income person.  Incase of Mr. X who is rich, can buy this car within his means of Income. In simple word he can fulfill his desire within his COMFORT ZONE.  Whereas to Mr. Y, fulfilling his desire of owing MARUTI SWIFT Car within his means of Income is an uphill task.  He has to move out of his CURRENT COMFORT ZONE and take extra efforts to fulfill his desire.  

CRITERIA FOR MANIFESTATION / LAW OF ATTRACTION TECHNIQUE

Ø THE DESIRE SHOULD BE BIG ENOUGH SO THAT YOU ARE NOT IN A POSITION TO ACHIEVE THE DESIRE WITH YOUR CURRENT LEVEL OF FINANCIAL, TECHNICAL & MENTAL COMPETENCE (COMFORT ZONE).  IN SELF DEVELOPMENT PARLANCE IT REFERS “RAISING THE BAR”

Ø TRANSFORMATION.  MOVING OUT OF CURRENT COMFORT ZONE (TAKING RISK) AND WILLING TO PUT LOT OF EFFORTS & FORGO THE CURRENT PLEASURE (GRATIFICATION) TO ACHIEVE THE DESIRED RESULT. IN SELF DEVELOPMENT PARLANCE IT REFERS “BECOMING THE PERSON YOU WANT TO BE”. 

Please Note That Word TRANSFORMATION.  It Is Not A CHANGE. 

 TRANSFORMATION Means Replaces The Old With New, Transformation Is About Modifying Core Beliefs And Long-Term Behaviors, Habits—Sometimes In Profound Ways—To Achieve The Desired Results. Like How Caterpillar Become Butterfly.

Whereas Change Makes Old Thing Better.  It is Like Pouring Old Wine In A New Attractive Bottle.  It Is Not Changed The Quality Of The Wine Anyway

Example Of Transformation - Gautama Buddha Was A Prince & Pleasure Seeking Person.  But When He Decided To Find The Life Truth, He Left The Palace, Kingdom, Worldly Pleasure And Become A Beggar/Monk To Attain It.

Lot of Readers ask this question “Why Law of Attraction is failing in most of the cases while trying to achieve Big Goals which is beyond our current capability ?”  One of the Main Reason is that the person is not getting TRANSFORMED.  Transform means not only in Personality changes but mainly in your inner Qualities like Attitude, Character, Ethics, Self Esteem/Image etc.  Unless you change your inner quality whatever changes in your Personality which is outer, will not have long term positive impact.  Without changing your inner quality to match to the expected environment which you aspire for, even dedicated following of Law of Attraction tools like Affirmation, Visualization and Gratitude, will not bring the desired result.  Note that Personality is your projection of yourself to outside world which may not be your true nature.  You can attract people through your Personality for some time only.  For example Cine Actors who are having bald head try to hide baldness by wearing wig not only in cinema but also in real life to project good image about themselves.  But once the truth start revealing itself then the entire structure start collapsing.
